What is football?

The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal. Football is one of a family of football codes, which emerged from various ball games played worldwide since antiquity.

The history of soccer back more than 2,000 years ago to ancient China. Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America also claim to have started the sport; but it was England that transitioned soccer, or what the British and many other people around the world call “football,” into the game we know today.

Who made the first football ball?

In the early days, before Charles Goodyear made better use of rubber, balls for early rugby, then football games were made from inflated pig bladders. They were relatively round, durable and in plentiful supply. Later versions covered them in a leather skin, stitched together by laces.

Simple in its principal rules and essential equipment, the sport can be played almost anywhere, from official football playing fields to gymnasiums, streets, school playgrounds, parks, or beaches.
